CoG3 The Geology, Geomicrobiology and Geometallurgy of cobalt - An Industry Workshop
16th May 2017 Marrakech
In conjunction with the Cobalt Development Institute, The CoG3 Research Consortium invites you to a technology workshop focused on cobalt, happening directly before the CDI cobalt conference in Marrakech at the same venue.
CoG3 is an ambitious £2.5 million UK Research Council funded project focused on understanding the natural behaviour and biogeochemistry of cobalt in order to develop and apply novel bioprocessing strategies for extraction, recovery and the synthesis of targeted products (see details overleaf). This is funded as part of the UK initiative ‘SoS Minerals’ (security of supply) targeted at metals critical to the modern economy and cobalt is one of the highlighted metals.
Representatives from companies along the cobalt supply stream are particularly invited to attend presentations that highlight the research from the CoG3research project. Interested parties who may wish to join the research project are welcomed and all who pre-register for the workshop may attend free of charge.
The aims of the workshop are to look at future raw material sources for cobalt and assess new emerging science in the geo- and bio- engineered recovery of cobalt. There will be specific mineral processing and recovery sessions with a special focus on new bioleaching testwork, downstream cobalt products and possible engineered and bio-engineered products tailored to specific industrial and biomedical needs.
Timing: Tuesday 16th May 10:00 – 18:00
Location: Movenpick Hotel Mansour Eddahbi, Marrakech
Cost: Free of charge to pre-registrants
